Skilled Rehabilitation Care

Penobscot Nursing Home partners with Synertx, a national rehab company which provides on-site professional staff in Occupational, Physical and Speech therapies. The rehab space is located in two sunny rooms that contain a full range of exercise equipment and treatment modalities.

Our therapists have advanced training, clinical experience and access to software tools that allow them to spend maximum time with residents.

Physical Therapy - Our team treats injury, disease and other physical/mental disorders to restore function and/or reduce disability. Procedures include strength exercise, endurance, coordination and range of motion. We use assistive devices such as walkers and canes, and apply physical agents or exercise to relieve pain and promote healing

Occupational Therapy - The goal is to provide purposeful activities to restore and maximize independence. Specifically, we work to improve or restore functions in the daily living environment such as bathing, grooming, toileting in order to reduce dysfunction and minimize disability. Speech Therapy - This therapy treats communication deficits or swallowing problems in order to manage, rehabilitate or modify these disorders. Procedures include treatment of language and cognitive disorders and swallowing risks, cognitive retraining (memory), oral motor exercise and setting dietary needs. Our rehabilitation approach includes a thorough evaluation and assessment of therapy needs for each resident and the development of a Therapy Plan of Care.
